True understanding comes from full immersion. To truly connect with the Shipibo-Conibo worldview, we must engage with their customs, language, and spiritual practices. This involves deep participation, observing with respect, and appreciating the meaning behind each ritual and interaction. By doing so, we form meaningful connections with the people and their traditions. The Rao Bewa (Ikaros, sacred songs) sung by the Onanya (shaman) during ceremonies are a key part of this connection, allowing participants to experience the profound interaction between plant medicine and the spirit.
