Is Ayahuasca
legal in Spain?
Ayahuasca is not illegal in Spain. Spain follows the UN drug conventions, and ayahuasca is not listed as a controlled substance under them or under Spanish national law: the International Narcotics Control Board confirmed in 2010 that plant preparations such as ayahuasca are not under international control, while pure DMT remains controlled. Spanish courts have confirmed this in practice. In July 2025 the High Court of Justice of Madrid upheld an acquittal, ruling that ayahuasca cannot be treated as a drug under article 368 of the Criminal Code, and in 2021 the Provincial Court of Málaga acquitted a person who had imported ayahuasca for personal use. Most other cases have been closed without trial.
Our programs operate as private, non-commercial cultural gatherings for members of the association, in line with these precedents. Our programs follow one tradition, that of our Peruvian maestros of the Shipibo lineage, and ayahuasca is the only plant preparation in it. We do not combine ayahuasca with bufo, San Pedro, yopo, mushrooms, kambo, other entheogens, recreational drugs or any other substances, and every participant completes a screening and an application review before being accepted.

Our 7-day all-inclusive program costs from €2,650 per person in a shared apartment, €3,300 in a private room and €3,500 in a private apartment. Flights, travel insurance and airport transfers shared by the group are not included.
Single-night ceremonies offered online for €150 to €500 often bring together strangers who have not been screened, led by people who do not know their health history, with no support once the night is over. Our program works the other way around: every application is reviewed before acceptance, the maestros and on-site therapists stay with the group for seven days, and integration support continues after you return home.

Our oceanfront venue is in Andalusia, about 2.5 hours by car from Málaga airport and 1 hour 40 minutes to 2 hours from Sevilla airport. Most guests fly into Málaga or Sevilla, and we organize group transfers from both airports on the first day of the retreat. We do not hold ceremonies in Málaga city or in other regions of Spain.
No, there is no direct public transportation to the retreat.
At our retreat, we'll assist in grouping you with other attendees to organize transport to various locations. Please note, this transfer service is an additional expense, not covered by your retreat fee.
For a stress-free departure, we recommend booking your return flight for the day following the retreat's conclusion. This allows you to leave the retreat leisurely after breakfast and the final integration session, around 11:30 am, and head to a hotel for some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

Each ceremony is led by our Peruvian maestros of the Shipibo lineage, together with facilitators and an on-site therapist, who is present at every ceremony. The number of maestros and facilitators, from one to four, depends on the size of the group and the needs of the ceremony.
Our respect for each Onanya (master shaman) is profound, acknowledging their extensive lifelong training in the rainforest to become adept with teacher-plants like Ayahuasca.
The rainforest lifestyle presents its challenges, with various unforeseen circumstances that could prevent an Onanya (master shaman) from traveling. Therefore, we disclose the designated Onanya's name 2-3 weeks before the retreat begins, keeping in mind that changes may occur unexpectedly.

Ceremonies follow the traditional Shipibo setting. They take place at night in a dedicated ceremonial space and are led by our Peruvian maestros of the Shipibo lineage, who guide the ceremony with icaros, the traditional sacred songs, without modern music or instruments. Participants stay on their own mats in silence and without physical contact, so that each person can keep a personal connection with ayahuasca. Each part of the team has its own role: the maestros hold the spiritual level of the ceremony, an on-site therapist looks after the mental and emotional level, and facilitators take care of the physical level and everyone's needs throughout the night.
Immediately after registering for the retreat, we ask you to fill out a screening questionnaire. Following its completion, we'll assist you in ensuring your ceremony participation is secure, advising whether a specific pre-retreat diet is necessary.

No. All our retreats in Spain take place at our oceanfront venue in Andalusia, chosen for its climate, nature and privacy. We do not hold ceremonies in Alicante, Mallorca, Madrid or other regions of Spain.
Yes. Ceremonies, sharing circles, integration sessions and all communication with our team are in English, and conversations with the maestros are translated into English. You need to speak English fluently to take part, so that you can understand the guidance, share your experience and ask for support at any moment.
